Oyebanji wins Ekiti governorship election

Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Abiodun Oyebanji, has been declared winner of the Ekiti State governorship election.

Oyebanji polled a total of 187,057 votes to defeat his closest rival, Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party, who polled 82,211 votes while Bisi Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), got 67,457 votes.

The APC candidate won in 15 of the 16 Local Government Areas of the State.

The returning officer for the election, Professor Kayode Oyebode, declared Oyebanji winner at 3:04am on Sunday.

The total valid votes in the election were 351,865, void votes, 8,888 and total votes cast, 360,753.
