The Nation states that the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu, has announced Senate President Ahmed Lawan as the party’s consensus presidential aspirant.
The newspaper added that crisis has hit the ruling party following the alleged announcement by Senator Adamu. The APC chairman was reported to have made the announcement at the meeting of National Working Committee (NWC) on Monday, June 6, in Abuja.
Adamu allegedly told the NWC that he arrived at the choice of Lawan after consultation with President Muhammadu Buhari.
Though Adamu announced Lawan as the consensus aspirant, it was gathered that other aspirants will be allowed to contest the primary at the convention holding on Tuesday, June 7, at the Eagle Square, Abuja.
Other aspirants still in the race include Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Rotimi Amaechi, and David Umahi, among others.
