Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, John Olukayode Fayemi is set to declare for the 2023 Presidency on Wednesday.
This was shared by the Ekiti State Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Akin Oyebode.
Fayemi, a former Minister for Mines & Steel and presently Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum had addressed the media in April, that he was still consulting Governors, traditional rulers and Nigerians before declaring.
His declaration will seem to swell the ranks of aspirants from the South-West vying for the 2023 Presidency after Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and former Lagos State Governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu have publicly shown interests on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Former Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun is also set to declare on May 5 under the APC as former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Peter Fayose has also passed through screening under the platform of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
